Description: Today in Loreto Convent School Special Assembly was conducted by the Nature club.
Earth day reminds us we all share the same planet. Sharing Earth means taking responsibility for what we use and how we use it. It is a day to think of the environmental challenges we face and how to solve them. Protecting Earth is every person’s and every country’s responsibility.
Rethink, Reduce, Reuse something & Recycle:-
Understanding how long something takes to decompose in a garbage dump or landfill can help and motivate all of us to reuse and recycle everything we can. The best thing any of us can do for the environment is to rethink the way we use things and to use less. The few resources and products we use, the less stuff-there is to throw away and recycle.
Simple steps to save the Earth:-
1) By replacing on regular light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb we can save 130kg of carbon dioxide and about Rs.2,200 a year.
2) We can save 1090kg of carbon dioxide per annum by recycling our household waste.
3) We can save 545kg of carbon dioxide if we cut down our garbage by 10%.
4) We should look for energy efficiency label while buying new products such as TV, Cell phones, refrigerators and air conditioners. 5-star label is the most efficient. Eco-label even for cloths and ifestyle products.
4) A single tree absorbs 1 tonne of carbon dioxide over its life time. So we should plant a tree anywhere.
5) We should switch off the main power. Switch off light appliances and electronic equipment when they are not in use. We can save 250 kg of carbon dioxide and Rs.42, 000 a year.
6) The more people who are environmentally aware the greater benefit to us all.
