Description: On 20th of November,2015 forty students of std 12 accompanied by our teachers Mrs. Patra
and Mrs. Roy visited an old age home for women "Apna Ghar", situated in Hesag, Ranchi.
"Apna Ghar" is a peaceful home for 20 inmaids. These 20 beautiful ladies are the ones
who have been abandoned by their families because of their illness and old age. In the short
time we were there, we became aware of one of the bitter truths of our society.
The irony lies in the fact that in our country India, where several Goddesses are worshipped,
these ladies who should be worshipped and taken care of are being left alone without the love and care
of their loved ones.
We had a wonderful time there. we danced and sang songs for them. They too were delighted to see us and had a blissful time.
The old women found their home "Apna Ghar". But the people who take care of them made it possible for those
women in "Apna Ghar" to be as their own. These old women are looked after by the Ursuline sisters, assisted by
three more women who bestaw their selfless efforts in taking care of them.
The Ursuline sisters and the 3 women do the chores what others refrain from doing. Among those women some
were educated and it makes us wonder what brought them to an old age home. surely it depends on the present attitude that we have
towards our parents.
Visiting the home taught us good behaviour and how we should work with our parents.
For this I would like to thank Sr. Anjuman and the faculty for giving us the opportunity
to experience the joys and sadness of women in an old age home.
