Description: CYBER SECURITY AND THE SAFETY OF WOMEN A seminar on “Cyber Security and the Safety of Women” was organized at Loreto Convent, Doranda on the 27th of June. The event held in the school auditorium saw a good turnout with students from over 16 Schools participating. The session was inaugurated by Mr. S.N. Pradhan (ADG, CID, Jharkhand ) and Mrs Sampat Meena (I G Organised Crime And Railways ) This was followed by a dance presented by the students of the senior section. A team of eminent personalities also addressed the students on the issue of cyber crimes against women. Among the panelists were Ms. Preeti Shrivastav (Child Protection Officer, UNICEF) Dr. (Mrs.) Shamshun Nehar (Associate Professor, Zoology Dept. Ranchi University) Mr. Vineet Kumar (Chief Technical Officer Jharkhand Police) The speakers also conducted an interactive session with the students. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by the Principal Sr. Anjuman Gidh. Dr. Shamshun Nehar – She specified on how women should be alert and defend themselves. She shared some essential tips with the students giving them ways to protect themselves not only at public places but also when alone at home, inside a lift. or etc. Ms. Preeti Srivastava – She highlighted on child welfare Protection through a presentation. She also shared an important aspect regarding women safety, that if a woman, feels herself to be in any problem she can seek help from the police even without lodging an F.I.R. Mrs. Sampat Meena – She, through her own experience, shared some teenage problems and also made the students aware of ways to tackle them. She focussed on being bold and smart enough to know how to use the emergency services in case of uttermost need. Mr. S. N. Pradhan – Through some verbal exercises and an enlightening speech Mr. Pradhan made the students to raise their voice saying “I am O.K. and you are also O.K. ” He specified on the point that before running to seek help from others we should say to ourselves “I am O.K. I can and I will handle this situation.” Mr. Vineet Kumar – He spread awareness regarding various Cyber Crimes and also recommended measures to safeguard oneself against those crimes. There was also an interactive session with the panel wherein the students from various schools actively participated and clarified their doubts. Towards the end, the guests were given a momento and a shawl as a token of honour and appreciation.
