Description: Rabindranath Tagore
Rabindranath Tagore, popularly known as Gurudev, was a renowned poet, author, philosopher, artiot and educator. He was born on May 7, 1861in a rich aristocratic family in Kolkata. He was very well read and had started writing his own poetry at a very early age. He was a great social and religious reformer and the founder of Shantiniketan. He was the first Indian to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature for his masterpiece Gitajali. His composition “Jana Gana Mana” was chosen as India’s National Anthem. To commemorate the birth of this great man the students of IX A presented a special Assembly on Gurudev’s Jayanti paying a tribute to him. The Principal Sr.Anjuman garlanded the picture of Gurudev. This was followed by the presentation of a skit on’ Kabuliwala’ one of Gurudev’s works. Students also sung his famous song “Tumi Akela Cholo Re” and then recited one of his famous poems “where the mind is without fear”. Last but not least our Principal spoke a few words inspiring the students to be like Gurudev.
