The senior students of Loreto Convent celebrated ‘Girl Child Day’ on the 12th of December, 2013. This initiative was taken up by the JPIC group. The student of class VI made posters to create awareness regarding the violence against women. The students of Classes VII, VIII & IX took part in the speech where they shared their views on the causes of this violence and also told about how the world would be without women. . The guests for today’s programme were Ms. Bharti Ojha, who has been the brand head of Hindustan Jharkhand for 11 years, and two of the parents of our students, Mrs. Tabrez professor in the P.G. Department of Zoology and Mrs. Rehman, an ex-Student of Loreto Convent, Reanchi. For the speech addressing programme, the topic for class VII was “Men VS Women”. Are they being treated equally? And the participants were:- 1.Rani Banerjee VII-A 2.Bhavya Singh VII-B 3.Chetna Anjali VII-C Class VIII spoke on “Do women have what it takes to lead?” the participants were: 1.Elizabeth Thomas VII-A 2.Harsimran Kaur VIII-A 3.Anushka Tripathi VIII-B 4.Tanvi Gaurav VIII-C 5.Riya Kumar VIII-C 6.Sharqa Tabrez VIII- “Women empowerment is fake”. This was the topic given to class IX, the speakers were as follows; 1.Shristy Marandi IX-A 2.Lucilia Tigga IX-A 3.Shaeza Tabrez IX-A 4.Zovaria Rehman IX-B 5.Anisha Basu IX-C 6.Mallika Chatterjee IX-C 7.Anupupa Chattopadhyay IX-C 8.Sneha Kindo IX-C All the participants came up with beautiful points. The entire show turned out to be a great success and finally Sr.Anjuman summed up the whole thing by appreciating the students & teachers for their support
